Baseball: The Fan Zone-Ragin’ Cajuns baseball viewing party set outside Tigue field – free to public

The Advertiser, June 6, 2014

College World Series Baseball Games will be shown all day on multiple TVs outside Moore field under the oak tree on both Saturday and Sunday.

Ragin’ Cajuns fans who can’t get tickets to this weekend’s NCAA Super Regional tournament can still head out to M.L. “Tigue” Moore Field to support the team.

The Daily Advertiser has partnered with the University of Louisiana at Lafayette and several corporate sponsors to create a Fan Zone viewing party just outside the baseball field.

Multiple big-screen TVs — including a 9-foot-by-12-foot viewing board — will be set up on Reinhart Drive near Gate A of Cajun Field, courtesy of Quality Companies, Industrial Oil Field Services, Audio Video Innovators and The Daily Advertiser.

In addition, the LAstrEAT food truck will be there selling food, including Cajun grilled cheese and Ragin Cajun Wings.

During the day, fans will be able to watch super regional games from around the country while they tailgate outside of “the Tigue.” The Ragin’ Cajuns games will also be broadcast on each of the screens so that fans who are tailgating and do not have a ticket will not miss any of the action. There is no cost and fans are encouraged to bring lawn chairs.

“We have the best fans in the nation, and they proved it once again last weekend against Mississippi State. Thanks to some of our partners we are able to extend the gameday experience outside the gates for this weekend’s super regional whether or not they have tickets,” said Director of Athletics Scott Farmer. “This is a great time to be a Ragin’ Cajun. In fact, we are the only school in America that hosted both a NCAA Super Regional in both baseball and softball this year.”

Tickets for the Lafayette Super Regional are sold out. Fans who have confirmed their order with the Cajundome Ticket Office can either pickup their tickets at the Cajundome Box Office starting at 10 a.m. on Friday, or can print them online from their TicketMaster account. As of Thursday evening, the Cajundome Ticket Office is still in the process of calling ticket holders to confirm their orders.

Both parking and tailgating for the super regional will be on a first-come-first-served basis. Fans are asked to enter through gates one, two or three as Reinhardt Drive will be closed around the Cox Communications Athletic Complex. There will be no RV parking in the grass lots.
