Justin Robichaux came through with an RBI base hit the half inning after Northwestern State pulled into a tie each time to lift Louisiana to a 4-3 victory Tuesday evening at Brown-Stroud Field in Natchitoches.

NSU scored an unearned run in the third inning to knot the score at 2-all. The Cajuns answered the Demons’ score in the top of the fourth inning with Robichaux coming through in a second straight at bat.

Back-to-back singles started the inning and an Alex Fuselier sacrifice bunt moved runners to second and third to set the stage for a two-RBI single through the left side by Robichaux that provided the go-ahead and game-winning run.

Ryland Parker, Randall Bulliard, Blake Wascom and Joey Satriano combined to limit the Demons to one run and one hit over the final five innings to lock down the victory.

With the win, Louisiana (15-14) kept its record above .500 for the third time in a one-week span when there was the chance of falling below .500.

The Cajuns return to Sun Belt play this weekend hosting Troy at M.L. "Tigue" Moore Field Friday-Sunday, April 9-11. Game times are 6 p.m., 6 p.m., and 1 p.m.

UL handed NSU (19-8) its first non-conference home loss of the season. It came one week after snapping the Demons’ overall 12-game, non-conference winning streak.

Dayton Marze, who worked out of a bases loaded jam unscathed in the first inning after relieving starter Chase Traffica, collected the victory. Joey Satriano pitched the ninth inning to earn his first Division I save.

Robichaux finished 3-for-4 with three RBI. Chad Keefer stretched his hitting streak to 21 games when he doubled in the seventh inning.

Cajuns pitchers combined for 11 strikeouts of Demons hitters which included six strikeouts in the final three innings.

Both teams saw their leadoff batter collect a double to lead off their respective half of the first inning and each team scored one run.

UL received an RBI single from Matt Goulas for the game’s first run. The Demons benefited from a wild pitch to plate their run and even the score.

Traffica was relieved by Marze on a 3-1 count with no outs. Marze later worked out of a bases loaded jam by getting Adam Roy to bounce back to him for a force out at home and Will Watson to ground into a 6-4-3 double play.

Louisiana got the run back in the top of the second on a two-out RBI single by Robichaux. That scored Lance Marvel who drew a one-out walk and got an early jump on a ground out by Fuselier to avoid a double play.

An error on a double steal attempt by NSU in the bottom of the third allowed the hosts to pull even again.
