Baseball: Moore Named To CoSIDA 2016 Academic All-America Division I First Team

AUSTIN, Texas – Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns baseball sophomore Dylan Moore became the fourth player in program history to be named to the Academic All-America® Division I baseball team as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), the organization announced on Friday.

"It’s quite an honor for any player to be named a first team Academic All-American," head coach Tony Robichaux said. "I’m glad for Dylan who has always worked hard to make sure that his athletic talents never undermined his academic mission. That is something that is very important to us as a program. I also think that awards like this are important because it doesn’t just focus on athletic ability, but also what you do in the classroom. They are called student-athletes for a reason. I can’t be more proud for Dylan to receive this honor."

Moore was named to the 2016 CoSIDA Academic All-America® Division I First Team and joins Kevin Cantrelle (1998) and Tommy Bates (1991) as the only Ragin’ Cajuns to earn first team honors in program history.

A political science major with an emphasis in pre-law, Moore was the only member of the first team with a 4.00 GPA. Moore has been named to the President’s List and the Sun Belt Conference Commissioners List since joining the program in the fall of 2014.

On the field, Moore tied his own single season saves record with 13 this year. Moore also owns the program career record for saves with 26 in two seasons. The right-hander is 6-1 this season with an 0.94 era in 24 appearances. Moore has struck out 56 in 47.2 innings and has limited opponents to a .153 average.

Moore was also named the UL Male Student-Athlete of the Year for his outstanding achievements both on and off of the field.
