Baseball: Moore Named To 2017 CoSIDA Academic All-District Baseball Teams

LAFAYETTE, La. – For the second straight season, Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns baseball junior Dylan Moore has been tabbed to the College Sports Information Directors Association (CoSIDA) Academic All-District Baseball Teams as he was named to the District 6 Team, the organization announced on Thursday. The teams recognize the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom.

"It’s always an honor and a privilege for your program and university to have someone on your team recognized for a national award," head coach Tony Robichaux said. "I think this is a great award because you’re not just judged on your athletic ability. It emphasizes academics and shows that what you do in the classroom is also important. That’s what it should always be about. We call them student-athletes for a reason. We always tell our guys not to let their athletic mission undermine their academic mission. I think it’s a great honor for D-Mo to be named to the award for the second straight year, and he is being paid back for his hard work and effort."

Moore was named to the CoSIDA District 6 Academic All-District™ First Team as a pitcher. Through almost three years with the Cajuns, Moore has excelled in the classroom posting a 4.00 GPA in Political Science with an emphasis in pre-law. Since stepping on campus in the fall of 2014, Moore has been named to the President’s List five times and to the Sun Belt Conference Commissioners List twice.

"Our program has been able to excel in the classroom because of people like coach (Chris) Domingue and Christy Alford and Dustin Daigle in the student academic office," Robichaux added. "I can’t say enough about how important Coach Doe is to our program and the work that he does as an academic liaison for us. Our staff does a great job of giving our student-athletes everything they need to be successful in the classroom."

This season Moore captured the Sun Belt Conference career saves record and now has eight saves on the season and 35 in his career. Moore has a 1-1 record with a 2.93 ERA in 20 appearances tossing 27.2 innings with 40 strikeouts and a .147 opponents’ batting average.

The Academic All-District™ teams are divided into eight geographic districts across the United States and Canada. District 6 is comprised of universities from the states of Arkansas, Iowa, Louisiana, Minnesota, Missouri, Mississippi, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wisconsin.

First-team Academic All-District™ honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® Team ballot, where first-, second- and third team All-America honorees will be selected later this month.
