Baseball: Marks Receives All-America Honors From Baseball America

DURHAM, N.C. – Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns junior reliever Wyatt Marks became the third player in program history to be named a first team All-American by Baseball America, the publication announced on Thursday.

"This is a big honor for our team and for Wyatt," head coach Tony Robichaux said. "Anytime the university is in the national spotlight it’s a great thing for the school and our program. This is another example of baseball paying someone back for their hard work and effort. Wyatt embraced his new role in the bullpen, and because of that he can now say that he is an All-American. I couldn’t be prouder of him and the job he did for us out of the bullpen."

Marks joins Jace Conrad and Caleb Adams as the only players in program history to be tabbed to the Baseball America All-American First Team. The Lafayette, La., native became the first reliever in program history to record 100 strikeouts in a season posting 100 in 59.1 innings. Marks is just the sixth player in NCAA Division I baseball since 2003 to post 100 strikeouts in a season without making a start.

The junior leads the nation in both strikeouts per nine innings (15.17) and hits allowed per nine innings (4.4). Marks finished the season with a 2-1 record and seven saves in a team-best 30 appearances. The right-hander ranked third in the Sun Belt and 41st in the nation in ERA (2.28) while limiting opponents to a .144 average.

Marks joins Gunner Leger (Collegiate Baseball, Third Team) and Dylan Moore (CoSIDA Academic, Second Team) on the list of Cajuns to receive All-American honors this season.
