Louisiana sophomore outfielder Alex Fuselier has been named to Academic All-District VI team by the College Sports Information Directors of American (Cosida) and ESPN The Magazine as the two groups announced the All-District awards.
The all-district awards are given annually to student-athletes who achieve high levels of success in both the classroom and on the playing field.
Fuselier was named to the District VI second team. District VI encompasses the states of Louisiana, Texas, Mississippi, Arkansas, Oklahoma and New Mexico.
Fuselier, a native of St. Martinville and a Teurlings Catholic product, carries a 3.88 cumulative GPA majoring in biology.
Fuselier has started 43 of the Ragin’ Cajuns 45 games hitting .292 with three home runs, 10 doubles and 31 runs batted in. He is tied for the team lead with 15 steals in 16 attempts.
Three times this season Fuselier has posted five RBI, most recently in the series opener with UNO on Friday.
