Baseball: Four Cajuns Named To 2016 All Sun-Belt Baseball Teams

Lee Named Sun Belt Freshman Of The Year

SAN MARCOS, Texas – The 17th-ranked Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns baseball team had four players receive honors on the 2016 All-Sun Belt Conference teams, the league office announced on Tuesday.
 
Right-hander Nick Lee was named the Sun Belt Freshman of the Year after going 6-1 with a 3.24 ERA in 14 starts. Lee is the third Cajuns player in program history to be named the Sun Belt Freshman of the Year joining Blake Trahan (2013) and Gunner Leger (2015).
 
Lee ranks fourth in the Sun Belt in opponents average (.216), fifth in wins, and eighth in strikeouts (68).
 
Leger, Dylan Moore and Kyle Clement were each named to the All-Sun Belt First Team. All three players received their second career All-Sun Belt honors as the trio was named to the second team in 2015.
 
Leger is 6-3 on the year and leads the Sun Belt with a 2.09 ERA in 14 starts. The Lake Charles, La., native ranks 32nd in the nation in WHIP (0.99) and 41st in ERA. Leger also ranks second in the Sun Belt in opponents batting average (.212), fifth in wins, seventh in innings pitched (81.2) and ninth in strikeouts (67).
 
Moore ranks 24th in the nation and second in the Sun Belt in saves with 11. On the season, Moore has a 1.03 ERA in 22 appearances with a 6-1 record. Moore has struck out 52 in 43.2 innings of work.
 
Clement is currently fourth in the Sun Belt in average (.366) fifth in on base percentage (.429) and tenth in slugging (.490). The senior has driven in 17 runs on 56 hits including 13 doubles and two home runs. Clement has also scored 25 times, swiped six bases and walked 14 times.
