Baseball: Cajuns Overcome Early Deficit To Defeat Troy 12-8 In Elimination Game

TROY, Ala. – The Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns baseball team overcame an early 5-1 deficit as the team rallied for six runs in the second inning to defeated second-seeded Troy 12-8 in an elimination game on Thursday afternoon at the 2015 Sun Belt Tournament hosted at Riddle-Pace Field.

The Cajuns (35-21) will face the loser of the UT Arlington/Texas winner’s bracket contest Friday at 6:30 p.m. in an elimination game. The contest will be aired on News Talk 96.5 KPEL-FM with Jay Walker making the call. The game will also be broadcast on ESPN3 with Matt Stewart providing play-by-play.

“They jumped us early. We tried to slow them down all we could, but they came out swinging. We went to the pen and Greg (Milhorn) did an outstanding job,” head coach Tony Robichaux said. “You bring in a pitcher to change the momentum of the game, and without Greg’s outing today, I don’t think we can come back. He got momentum, and then the hitters fed off of him. He’s been battling back from a groin injury. Today he came out and pitched like a senior should.”

Milhorn was forced into action in the first inning and came on to limit the Trojans (30-25) to one run on one hit in 4.2 innings of relief to pick up his third win of the year. The senior equaled a career–high with six strikeouts in the outing.

Junior right-hander Will Bacon registered his second save of the season throwing 1.1 scoreless innings to close out the contest with three strikeouts.

The Cajuns added three more runs in the top of the fourth. Clement doubled home the first run of the inning sending a ball off of the wall in center field with one out.
