Baseball: Cajuns Baseball Sells Out Season Tickets For The First Time In Program History

M.L. "Tigue" Moore Field

LAFAYETTE, La. – With the start of the 2016 season only three days away, the Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns baseball team has sold out all 3,002 season tickets for the 2016 campaign, Director of Athletics Scott Farmer announced on Tuesday.

The sell out is the first ever in the program’s history and brings in over $400,000 of revenue to the department.

"We thank our fans for their incredible support" Farmer said. "This is a testament to coach (Tony) Robichaux and his staff. All of the hard work and effort that he and the coaching staff have put in has not gone unnoticed, and we hope to have yet another good season on the diamond."

"We definitely appreciate selling out the season tickets for the first time in program history," Robichaux said. "The biggest thing is that we have always been thankful for our fans. We’ve been in the top 20 in attendance almost the entire time that I have been here and we have an atmosphere here that can’t be duplicated.

"The thing that’s impressive is that every year we sell more tickets than we did the year before. That’s quite a testament to how loyal and great our fans are. The only way we can thank them is by how we go out and compete and play. We never talk about winning because that is hard to control, but we will control the things that we can control which is our attitude and effort."

The Ragin’ Cajuns have seen attendance at "The Tigue" soar in the last two seasons with over 100,000 fans in attendance both years. Louisiana has also averaged over 3,800 fans per game, which ranks among the best in the nation.

"We know this accomplishment comes at a difficult time for many people financially, and yet people are still buying season tickets," Robichaux said. "We just want our fans to know how much we appreciate this and that we are going to be good stewards of their money. We understand that its hard earned money that they are investing in us. We appreciate that and don’t take it lightly."

Fans still have an opportunity to purchase individual game tickets for every home game. There are two options to purchase individual game tickets. The first option is to purchase season tickets that have been released on ticketmaster.com. The second option is to purchase individual tickets at the M.L. "Tigue" Moore Field ticket booth 90 minutes prior to first pitch of each contest.

Students will be accommodated at each game this season by showing their student ID at the gate.

Season ticket holders that are unable to attend games this season are encouraged to return their tickets that will not be used to the Cajundome Box Office or by emailing ULTickets@Cajundome.com.

Fans can also forward tickets by using their season ticket account manager, which can be accessed by visiting www.RaginCajuns.com/Tickets. Tickets can also be reposted for sale by using the account manager as well.

The Cajuns open the 2016 slate this Friday at 6 p.m. as they host Sam Houston State in the first game of a three-game series at "The Tigue".

"The biggest way that we can thank our fans is with a new facility," Robichaux added. "I can’t think of any better way to repay the fans for their 20-plus years of support. To have a facility that is more comfortable and has more amenities is the best way to thank the fans, and that’s what we hope the facility we build for next year will do."
