A record-setting turnout for attendance at M.L. "Tigue" Moore Field in 2011 led to a Top 20 finish for the Ragin’ Cajuns in the final NCAA Division I Baseball home average attendance rankings.

For the first time in program history the average attendance at "The Tigue" was above 3,000. As a result, Louisiana turned in its highest finish in the national rankings and second-ever Top 20 finish.

The total attendance figure of 92,784 for the 2011 home schedule at "The Tigue" set a new facility record, surpassing the previous best of 70,267 in 2003.

"We have always appreciated our great fan base," remarked head coach Tony Robichaux. "Since day one our staff has been committed to creating the best gameday experience possible for those who come to ‘The Tigue’.

"There is a difference between just a ‘fan’ and a Ragin’ Cajuns fan," Robichaux added. "It’s the Ragin’ Cajuns fans that create the atmosphere at our ballpark. It’s an experience unequaled by many schools across the country"

Since 1999, Louisiana has ranked in the Top 40 in NCAA Division I and led the Sun Belt Conference in home average attendance each season.

Including the 2011 season, the Cajuns have seen an average attendance higher than 2,000 five times (2003, 2006, 2007, 2009, 2011).

The 2011 home average attendance marked the 12th consecutive season UL averaged 1,000-plus. UL’s average was higher than half of the College World Series field – Virginia (3,298), Vanderbilt (2,681), North Carolina (1,577) and Cal (558) – and second amongst all programs in the State of Louisiana.
