Baseball: August Pro Update – Conrad, Lucroy, and more

LAFAYETTE, La. – Jace Conrad became the second former Ragin’ Cajuns baseball player to be named to an all-star team this summer as he was selected to the New York-Penn League North Division All-Star Team this month.

 

 

 

Conrad, who is playing with the Hudson Valley Renegades (Tampa Bay Rays/Low A), is hitting .283 in 46 games with five doubles, three triples, a home run and 17 RBI. The Lafayette native has also scored 28 times and swiped 17 bases.

 

 

 

Jonathan Lucroy of the Milwaukee Brewers was the other Louisiana player to earn all-star honors this summer. Lucroy is currently hitting .309 with 38 doubles, 12 home runs and 53 RBI. In the all-star game. Lucroy went 2-for-2 with a pair of RBI doubles including a shot off of the wall to tie the game in the fourth inning against Chris Sale of the Chicago White Sox.

 

 

 

Danny Farquhar is having a another strong season in the majors with the Seattle Mariners. In 46 appearances, Farquhar has posted a 2.74 ERA with 55 strikeouts and one save.

 

 

 

In the minors, Dex Kjerstad is hitting .279 with 12 doubles, four triples, five home runs and 26 RBI in 64 games for the Lexington Legends (Kansas City Royals/A) in the South Atlantic League.

 

 

 

Over in the Arizona League, Chase Compton is putting up some good numbers with a .302 average and .429 on base percentage in 19 games and has driven in 12 runs with the AZL Giants (San Francisco/Rookie), while teammate Seth Harrison is hitting .250 with four doubles, three triples and 17 RBI in 25 games.

 

 

 

Carson Baranik is also doing well in the Arizona League for the AZL Dodgers (LA Dodgers/Rookie) having posted a 2-1 record and a 2.70 ERA in 10 appearances while striking out 17 in 16.2 innings.

 

 

 

Former utility man Ryan Leonards is batting .219 this summer in the White Sox farm system as he is currently playing with the Kannapolis Intimidators (Chicago White Sox/A) of the South Atlantic League. Leonards has a .295 on base percentage with three doubles, three triples, two home runs and 13 RBI.

 

 

 

Michael Strentz is leading a trio of players for the Orem Owlz (Los Angeles Angels/Rookie) in the Pioneer League. Strentz has tallied a .350 average with nine doubles, two triples, two home runs and 21 RBI in 25 games. Teammate Caleb Adams has a .248 average with eight doubles, two triples, five home runs and 18 RBI in 45 games, while Austin Robichaux is 1-3 with a 6.75 ERA in 25.1 innings and has struck out 15.

 

 

 

Jordan Harrison is 3-3 this season with a 3.21 ERA in 70 innings for the Charlotte Stone Crabs (Tampa Bay Rays/High A) in the Florida State League.

 

 

 

Chase Lambin rounds out the list of Ragin’ Cajuns who are active in professional baseball recording a .204 average in 79 games for the Sugar Land Skeeters (Independent) of the Atlantic League.
