Baseball Alumni Weekend Hugh Success (Pictures Included)Baseball Alumni Weekend Hugh Success (Pictures Included) Baseball Alumni Weekend Hugh Success (Pictures Included) (The Cajuns play Troy at 7:30 Thursday in the Sun Belt Tournament. Please click on www.athleticnetwork.net for information on tickets, media arrangements, game information, etc.) A special thanks to Coach Robichaux, his coaches, the Baseball Office Staff (Tina, Jessica, and Phyllis), Renee Judice and the Diamond Darlings, and all the former players, some who made very special efforts to attend. Special acknowledgements are also extended to the cooking crews on both the first and third base sides of the field and to 3B Patio Folks (led by Vance Lanier and cooks Jay Hebert and his helpers) who prepared the jambalaya at the Saturday night social. To get the weekend off to a proper start, Gene Bacque threw out the first pitch…a steaming fast ball which set Lucroy back on his heels. His profile is posted in the AN and includes his Japanese Baseball experiences. Gerald Hebert lead a tour of the new and improved athletic facilities on Saturday morning, which included a visit inside the new indoor facility. He also made a power point presentation to the group on Saturday evening. Prior to the Saturday afternoon game, former players went out to the position which each played and stood for the national anthem with the current player for that position, each wearing the beautiful black commerative Baseball T-shirts. The Saturday evening social at the beautiful Alumni Center began shortly after the Cajuns won the Sun Belt Conference Championship by a score of 28-3. It provided former players and coaches an opportunity to visit in a relaxed atmosphere. Wade Greasby was given a SBC 2007 Championship T-shirt for traveling the greatest distance and Gaston Leblanc was given a shirt for being the oldest alumni in attendance Saturday (on the field). Generations of Cajuns!!! When Wade accepted his shirt, he said how much the weekend had meant to him, seeing guys he hasn’t heard from or seen in 30 years and he said "Cajuns never quit …. and Cajuns never die!" Tina wrote that Wade emailed her and he has already RSVP’d for next year. Tony Robichaux was recognized by Dr. Authement prior to the Saturday game for acheiving his 700th victory as a Division I coach and Phil Devey was recognized for being a member of the Sun Belt Conference All-Time Team in honor of the 30th anniversary of the conference. Pictures tell the story, so for this special weekend, RaginCajuns.com and the Athletic Network teamed to produce over 1,000 pictures. Photographers included Frank Babin, Blair Gee, David Faber, and Marcus Ledet. A special thank-you to John Dugas for posting all of the pictures in the photo gallery. To view pictures of Baseball Alumni Weekend and all of the on-the-field and off-the-field activity, click on www.athleticnetwork.net then click on the RaginCajuns.com logo on the right of the Athletic Network News Box, then Baseball in the Teams Drop-Down menu in the upper left, then photos, then the 05/11, 05/12 and 05/11 links. Over 1.000 images are included in the five links. While two of the links contain Alumni Reunion in the title, former players are included in all five links. Fans at the Sunday afternoon (Mother’s Day) game were treated to player’s and coach’s mothers throwing out the first pitch and that was a neat event. Over eighty former players attended and many had family and friends as guests. The alphabetical listing is included below:
