LAFAYETTE, La. – Senior outfielder Caleb Adams was named to the Louisville Slugger’s Preseason All-America Third Team, the Collegiate Baseball Newspaper announced earlier this week.
Adams ranked ninth in the country in home runs in 2013 with 16 while hitting .339 at the plate with 55 RBI. The Texarkana, Texas native represented the Ragin’ Cajuns in the 2013 TD Ameritrade College Home Run Derby contest after being named to the 2013 American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) South Central All-Region first team.
“We have a saying that baseball pays you back for hard work,” head coach Tony Robichaux said. “Caleb is a guy that has had to deal with some adversity, but he has never given up despite not knowing what the future had in store for him. His hard work and effort last year has given him a lot of opportunities and honors, and we are proud of him.”
A second team All-Sun Belt Selection, Adams had nine doubles and a triple to go with his 16 home runs. Adams also slugged .651 during the season which ranked 16th in the nation while posting a .435 on base percentage.
“It’s great for our program anytime a player is represented in a positive light,” Robichaux added. “Caleb would be the first guy to say that he wouldn’t be in a position to earn this honor without his teammates.”
