Athletics: UL System Board of Supervisors Approves Facilities Master Plan

UL System Board of Supervisors Approves Facilities Master Plan

BATON ROUGE, La. — Planning and construction for the $115 million Athletic Facilities Master Plan for Ragin’ Cajuns athletics will move forward after the University of Louisiana System Board of Supervisors gave its initial authorization to proceed with the first tier of the plan at its meeting on Tuesday.

The approval gives the University permission to move ahead with the bid process for construction of the three projects in the plan’s top tier.

“On behalf of our student-athletes, coaches, staff and the entire University community, I want to thank the Board of Supervisors for approving tier one of the Athletics Facilities Master Plan,” Louisiana Director of Athletics Scott Farmer said.

“The implementation of this plan will give Ragin’ Cajuns athletics the facilities that they need to continue to grow for years to come. I am excited that the systems Board of Supervisors shares and approves of our vision,” Farmer added.

The top tier of facility priorities include improvements to the soccer and track facility, seating and amenity expansion in the south end of Cajun Field, and the new Athletics Practice Facility, which will be built adjacent to the Leon Moncla Indoor Practice Facility and the football practice fields.

Approval from the board allows athletics to request construction bids and finalize financing for the top tier projects.

“It is our plan to move forward immediately with the bid process and if all goes on schedule, we hope to go back to the board for final approval at the Board of Supervisors meeting in June,” Farmer said.
