Athletics: Ragin’™ Cajuns Athletics Announces New Coaching Hires

LAFAYETTE, La. – The Ragin’ Cajuns athletic department announced the hires of several assistant coaches and staff members, to start in the 2013-14 athletic season on Wednesday, July 3.
The hires are pending approval by the University of Louisiana System Board of Supervisors.
Luc Godin will be joining the Ragin’ Cajuns tennis coaching staff as an assistant coach, after spending two seasons at Auburn University with the women’s tennis team.  Godin is a veteran of the collegiate coaching ranks, with stints at Auburn, Northwestern St, Drury College (Mo.), and Tyler J.C. (Texas).  A native of Petit-rocher, New Brunswick, Canada, Godin played for the Canadian National team and in ATP futures events before focusing on coaching.
Along with Godin, the soccer program will be adding two coaches to their 2013 staff.
Kellie Murphy will join the staff as an assistant coach, after a four-year career at LSU, playing midfield and forward for the Tigers.  She also spent the last four months playing professionally in the Serbian Professional league.  A native of Lafayette, and 2008 graduate of St. Thomas More, Murphy will bring experience playing at a high level to the coaching staff.
Also joining the soccer program is Matt Gasser, who is stepping in as a volunteer assistant coach, working mainly with the goalkeepers.  Gasser spent the last year as the Intramural and Sports Club Coordinator at the University of Louisiana, and will remain in that role, while also helping with soccer.
In addition to the new hires, two staff members were promoted to full-time positions in their respective sports.
Cornelius Sullivan, will be promoted from his current post of Director of Basketball Operations, and step in the role of assistant coach, filling the vacancy left by his sister Jennifer.  The Memphis, Tenn. native is a 2012 graduate from the University of Memphis, where he spent four years as the women’s basketball team manager.
Also promoted to a full-time role is Freddie Glover, former volunteer assistant coach with the men’s and women’s track program.  Glover spent the 2012-13 season volunteering his time with the program, working with the hurdlers and sprinters, and will continue working with them as an assistant coach.  A seven-year veteran in the high school coaching ranks, Glover coached Northside High School to their 2006 State Championship.
The Ragin’ Cajuns fall athletic season opens on August 23rd, when the soccer team travels to Oxford, Miss, to take on Ole Miss.  The first Ragin’ Cajuns home contest is two days later when soccer takes on Jacksonville State at 1:00 p.m. at the Cajuns Track/Soccer Facility.
