Athletics: Ragin’ Cajuns Honor 34 Student-Athlete Graduates During Spring Commencement

 

34 Ragin’ Cajuns representing 10 sport programs earn degrees at conclusion of Spring 2018 semester 

LAFAYETTE – The Louisiana Department of Athletics had proud moments to celebrate Friday as 34 student-athletes earned undergraduate degrees with the Spring 2018 semester coming to a close with Commencement ceremonies at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. The Ragin’ Cajuns completed individual journeys toward degrees ranging from biology, exercise science, finance, management, petroleum engineering and more.

David Begnaud, a CBS News national correspondent and alum of the university, delivered the Commencement address.

Seven baseball student-athletes earned degrees, along with five representatives from the women’s track program. Four student-athletes each from football and soccer graduated, while three each from men’s track and softball earned degrees.

Two Louisiana student-athletes each from men’s basketball, women’s basketball, women’s tennis and volleyball also received their diplomas.

Ragin’ Cajuns Baseball’s Dylan Moore graduated Summa Cum Laude in Political Science, while Louisiana Football’s Shay LaPorte graduated Magna Cum Laude with a degree in Biology. Soccer student-athlete Ashleigh Cade graduated Cum Laude with a degree in Marketing.
