Matthew Casbon Hired as UL Athletics Ticket Manager

LAFAYETTE – The Ragin’ Cajuns Athletics Department and Cajundome Box Office jointly announced Thursday reorganization of box office staff and hiring of Matthew Casbon as UL Athletics ticket manager.
 
Casbon, a University of Louisiana graduate, enters into his role as UL ticket manager after serving as an account executive the past two years.
 
Due to health issues related to her MS (Multiple Sclerosis), Shivaun Bertrand, who served as UL’s Ticket Manager since 2002, is shifting to assistant box office manager. Bertrand held this position prior to her tenure as UL ticket manager.
 
“The Ragin’ Cajuns Athletics Department thanks Shivaun (Bertrand) for her dedicated, distinguished and loyal service to the Ragin’ Cajuns,” UL Director of Athletics Scott Farmer said. “She has been a valuable member of our team and I know our staff and coaches will miss the day-to-day interaction.
 
“Matt is a young, bright and charismatic person with a bright future in this profession and we are thrilled to have the opportunity to hire him for position of ticket manager,” Farmer added. “I firmly believe that he will enhance the services to our fans and continue to build upon the solid foundation Shivaun helped create.”
 
Casbon will oversee the day-to-day operations of the UL box office handling all Ragin’ Cajuns Athletics ticket inquiries, both on a season and gameday basis. He will be on site at UL Athletics events to accommodate walk-up sales, will-call window, seating issues, collections and patron inquiries, helping maintain a user friendly buying experience.
 
“Matt is a perfect fit and the UL fans know and love him,” Cajundome Box Office Manager Missy Ross said. “This should be an easy transition for all involved.”
 
A Lafayette native, Casbon was a member of the Ragin’ Cajuns baseball team from 2005-07 while attaining his bachelor’s degree in sports management. He also holds a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Louisiana.
 
Bertrand began her tenure at the Cajundome in 1986 as a student at then-USL. She was elevated to full-time status in 1995 and in 2002 began working directly with UL Athletics as ticket manager.
 
“The best part of this job has been the fans,” Bertrand remarked. “I am still a loud and proud UL cheerleader and look forward to making more noise in the stands.”
