Athletic Administration: Board details Farmer’s deal 12/9/11Athletic Administration: Board details Farmer’s deal 12/9/11 Daily Advertiser, Dec. 9, 2011 On Oct. 27, the University of Louisiana System Board of Supervisors approved the appointment of Scott Farmer as the full-time director of athletics at UL. On Thursday, the Board put a stamp on that appointment and released the details of Farmer’s new salary during its monthly meeting in Baton Rouge. Farmer’s new deal is a three-year agreement scheduled to end on Sept. 30, 2014. The new contract has a base of $150,000 plus numerous potential bonus options. Farmer’s prior contract was $116,250 with no bonus potential. Before Oct. 27, Farmer was operating on an interim basis, technically back to Dec. 31, 2010 when previous athletic director David Walker’s retirement went into effect. Farmer had been UL’s Associate Director of Athletics for the previous three years. Farmer’s supplemental pay requirements (subject to federal and state withholdings) would be $2,000: » Should all teams meet or exceed the NCAA Academic Progress Rate;» Should the overall NCAA graduation rate for athletes exceed the gradutation rate for all students and at least 50 percent of athletes achieve a 3.0 GPA or better during an academic year; » If no major NCAA infractions occur during each fiscal year;» Should the average attendance of all combined sports home games increase by 10 percent or more over the previous season’s attendance; » Should the number of paid season tickets for all combined sports increase by 10 percent or more over the previous year. Also, the UL Foundation will also supplement Farmer’s pay by $2,500 for: NCAA postseason participation in men’s or women’s basketball, baseball or softball or football. The UL Foundation’s bonus of $5,000 would be if UL wins the Sun Belt’s All-Sports Championship and $10,000 for national championships in men’s or women’s basketball and/or baseball or softball.
