2010 Gridiron Reunion Weekend SUCCESS by Marty CannonDear Gridiron,
We had a great turnout at all three of our events this weekend and it was great to see old teammates reunited! This is a special group that grows in strength and unity every year and I’m honored to be a part of it. I would like to personally thank the following people for making this weekend so successful: The Gridiron leaders for their efforts behind the scenes: Clarence Glenn, Antonio Bourgeios, Lee and Mary Beth Carrier, Ryan Poisso, Kevin Guilbeau and Troy Gisclair. A huge thanks also goes out to the former players that stepped up on Saturday to help serve the team.
The Blackjack Memorial sponsors: Acadian Hills Country Club, Lafayette Coca-Cola Bottling, KLFY TV-10, Ryan Cade State Farm (Angleton, TX), Ben Archer, Dan Ater, JAM Sports (Matt Citron), All Star Exterminating, Pete’s Family Sports Grill, Blue Ox Environmental Planning Services LLC, William "Maniac" Sirmon, Jim Doyle (Silver Sponsor), Schilling Distributing, Blue Fin Services, Superior Energy Services, Quality Paint and Supply (Galliano, LA), and The Athletic Network. The UL football coaches that played in the Blackjack Memorial: Rickey Bustle, Gerald Broussard, Troy Wingerter, Kevin Fouquier and Tim Rebowe. Coach Wingerter for the 1984, 1985, 1988 and 1996 highlight films for our Pete’s reunion. They were a huge hit! Raffle donors: Danny Jones with the Louisiana Open, UL’s Jonas Landry, Jody Watkins with Blue Fin Services and Mr. John Guilbeau Special thanks to Acadian Hills Country Club for hosting our event. The course was awesome! Scott Farmer for the UL athletic facilities tour Saturday morning. All of Bill "Blackjack" Landry’s family that came in for the weekend. If I missed any key people, my apologies. I am already making plans for the 2011 event. If anyone wants to get on board with the planning, feel free to contact me or any one of the board members.
