Football: Texans sign ex-Cajun Brown

Former Louisiana Ragin’ Cajun safety C.C. Brown has signed a three-year contract with the Houston Texans, the team that selected him in the sixth round of the NFL Draft last April.

Brown’s contract is for $1,000,300, including a $75,300 signing bonus.

A junior college transfer, Brown made a big impact on the UL defense in his two years with coach Rickey Bustle’s program.

As a senior in 2004, Brown had 55 individual tackles and 46 assists for a season total of 101 stops that led the Cajuns and was fifth in the Sun Belt Conference.

Brown’s stock improved after the season when he was chosen the Defensive MVP of the Hula Bowl All-Star Game.
