Baseball: Glass Earns Sun Belt Conference Pitcher of the Week Honors

NEW ORLEANS-The Sun Belt Conference announced Monday that Louisiana’s Ragin’
Cajuns starting pitcher Buddy Glass was named conference pitcher of the
week.

The honor is the first for Glass in his career and the fourth for the Cajuns
in 2006.

Glass pitched a complete game one-hitter to lead the Cajuns to a 9-0 victory
over Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on Saturday, April 8. The complete game was the
third of the season for the sophomore.

Glass tossed nine scoreless innings, fanning nine batters while only walking
one batter. He surrendered only one hit on the afternoon and allowed only a
pair of baserunners to reach second base.

The righthander threw 99 pitches including 70 strikes – 71-percent strikes.
Glass had a 0.00 ERA for the week and opponents only batted .037 against
him. He only faced two batters over the minimum.

Glass joins fellow Cajuns Hunter Moody and Jason Fernandez as 2006 pitcher of
the week award winners. Moody has won the award twice winning on Feb. 23 and
March 14, while Fernandez won on April 3.

The trio currently ranks in the top three in the Sun Belt Conference. Glass
leads the conference with a 1.15 earned run average. Just behind Glass are
Fernandez with a 1.57 ERA and Moody with a 1.64 ERA for the season.
