It’s become a tradition over the past few years, and outfielders Josh Landry and Alex Preciado, pitcher Jeff Martinez and shortstop Jameson Parker become part of an elite group today during University of Louisiana baseball pregame activities.
That senior foursome will have bachelor’s degrees conferred prior to the Ragin’ Cajuns’ Sun Belt Conference contest against Western Kentucky. Pregame activities will begin at approximately 1:45 p.m. at Moore Field.

The foursome will join four other seniors who will be playing their final home game today as the Cajuns wrap up regular-season play prior to next week’s Sun Belt Tournament in Bowling Green, Ky. The other seniors ending their home careers are pitchers Brandt Sanders, Cody LeBlanc and Jonathan Cottrell and outfielder John McCarthy.

"All of those guys are on track to get their degrees in the fall or next spring," said UL assistant coach Chris Domingue.
Since Cajun head coach Tony Robichaux took over the program prior to the 1995 season, senior squad members who have completed degree requirements during their active playing career have received their diplomas in an on-field ceremony prior to the final home game of the season.

Parker actually received his degree in finance last December at the end of the fall term, and is working on a second degree in business management. Landry and Preciado will receive business degrees today, with those three conferred by Dr. Robert Viguerie, assistant dean of the College of Business Administration.

Martinez will receive his degree in general studies from Dr. Wayne Andrepont, assistant to the dean of the College of Sciences.
