MOBILE, Ala.-The Sun Belt Conference announced the 2007 All-Sun Belt Baseball team and Louisiana’s Ragin’ Cajuns came away with six all-conference members, along with the Newcomer of the Year and the Coach of the Year.

The Ragin’ Cajuns placed three players on the first team All-Sun Belt list.  Buddy Glass, Jonathan Lucroy and Scott Hawkins all took home first team accolades, while Hunter Moody, Danny Farquhar and Jefferies Tatford were all second team all-conference selections. 

Rounding out the accolades for the Cajuns were Nolan Gisclair and head coach Tony Robichaux.  Gisclair was named the conference’s Newcomer of the Year, while Robichaux was recognized as Sun Belt Conference Coach of the Year. 

Glass served as the Ragin’ Cajuns Friday night starter for most of the 2007 season.  He ranks in the Cajuns’ leader board in the top three in wins, strikeouts, opposing batting average, win-loss percentage and innings pitched.  Glass finished the regular season with a 7-3 record and a 2.99 earned run average. 

Lucroy was a Pre-season All-Sun Belt Conference selection.  He currently  ranks nationally in homeruns, RBI per game, homeruns per game, doubles per game and slugging percentage.  Lucroy ranks in the top five on the team in batting average, doubles, RBI, hits, at bats, total bases and multiple hit games.  He is one of just three players on the team to play in all 54 games and one of just two to start every game this season.  Lucroy is ranked in the top-5 in the Cajuns career annals in batting average, hits, doubles, homeruns, RBI, total bases, slugging percentage, and sacrifice flies.

Hawkins ranks nationally in homeruns, homeruns per game and slugging percentage.  He is ranked in the top five on the team in at bats, total bases, homeruns, doubles, hits, RBI, runs scored, batting average, on base percentage and slugging percentage.  Almost 50-percent of his hits in conference have been extra-base hits.

Moody won 2006 Sun Belt Conference Pitcher of the Year and Pre-Season Conference Pitcher of the year.  He finished the regular season with an 8-3 record and a 3.79 ERA.  After starting the SBC season 1-1 in his first two starts, Moody won six of his last eight starts.  All but seven of his strikeouts came in SBC play.  He was first on the team in innings pitched in conference games.

Farquhar was a Pre-Season All-Sun Belt Conference selection. He ranks third in nation in strikeouts per nine innings.  Farquhar is also nationally ranked in strikeouts and saves.  He ranks in the top five on the team in opposing batting average, saves, batters struck out, appearances, games in relief, batters struck out looking, earned run average, wins and innings pitched. 

Tatford ranks nationally in walks per game and hit by pitch per game.  He ranks in the top five in on base percentage, runs scored, number of times hit by a pitch, batting average, hits, doubles, walks, slugging percentage, total bases and at bats, while tying for third in triples and homeruns.  Tatford had the fourth longest hitting streak on the team at 10 games.  He is one of three players to play in all 54 games and one of just two players to start every game this season.  In Sun Belt Conference games only, he ranks in the top five in batting average, slugging percentage, on base percentage, runs scored, hits, runs batted in, doubles, homeruns, total bases, walks, hit by pitch, sacrifice bunts and at-bats. 

Gisclair ranked in the top five on the Cajuns team in 14 statistical categories (triples, sacrifice flies, runs batted in, stolen bases, stolen base percentage, at bats, sacrifice bunts, homeruns, batting average, slugging percentage, runs scored, hits and total bases and number of times hit by pitch.  Ten of his 11 homeruns came in Sun Belt Conference games including a grand slam against Arkansas-Little Rock. 

Robichaux helped the Cajuns to a regular season record of 40-14 and a Sun Belt Conference mark of 23-7.  He led the Cajuns to their second SBC regular season title in the past three years.  UL swept six weekend series this season with four Sun Belt Conference sweeps.  Along the way, Robichaux picked up his 700th career victory with a 5-2 conference win against Florida Atlantic on March 24 at M.L. “Tigue” Moore Field. 

The No. 1 seeded Ragin’ Cajuns are set to kick off the 2007 Sun Belt Conference Tournament on Wednesday night as they take on the No. 8 seed South Alabama.  First pitch is slated for 7:30 p.m. at Stanky Field in Mobile, Ala.
