Michael Smith and Peter Badawy were named All-Louisiana by the Louisiana
Sports Writers Association.  Smith was named to the first team, while Badawy
was named to the second team.

LAFAYETTE-Louisiana’s Ragin’ Cajuns golf team placed two members on the 2007
Louisiana Sports Writers Association.  Michael Smith was named first team All-
Louisiana, while Peter Badawy was tabbed second team.

Smith and Badawy helped the Ragin’ Cajuns to their first Sun Belt Conference
Tournament championship since 1997.

Badawy used two rounds of 69 in the SBC Tournament to finish in second place
and earn all-conference accolades.  Smith, on the other hand, led the Cajuns
squad all season in stroke average.

Jose Toledo of the University of New Orleans headed up the all-Louisiana
collegiate golf team as selected for the Louisiana Sports Writers Association.

Toledo, a native of New Orleans, was named Player of the Year in the men’s
division.

Toledo was also named the men’s Newcomer of the Year while others receiving
special awards were Matthew Harvey of Louisiana Tech as Freshman of the Year
and Tim Baldwin of Southeastern Louisiana as Coach of the Year.

Joining Smith and Toledo on the men’s first team are Matthew Carvel and Aaron
O’Callaghan of Southeastern Louisiana and Chris Wells of LSU.   Second team
members aside from Badawy are Harvey, Brian Noonan of LSU, James Taverner of
Southeastern Louisiana and Jason Kuperman of UNO.

During the past season Toledo posted a 72.04 scoring average, was named to
the all-Sun Belt team, led his team to a third place showing at the
conference tournament and posted 12 sub-par rounds during the year.
