Former Football: Gridiron Alumni Tailgating For Homecoming (Picture of Calcagno Pavilion Included)

The Gridiron Alumni Club invites all former football players to join them for tailgating at Homecoming.  The Gridiron Alumni Club’s Calcagno Pavillion is located next to the indoor practice facility, in front of Cajun Tennis Courts, and will be open from 1-4 p.m. when the Cajuns kickoff their game with the Florida Atlantic Owls.

There will be plenty of food, fun and fellowship available, so please bring your favorite beverage to toast the team and the special honorees.

Peter Batton here, I was a freshman back in ’82 and remember each one of you. I came by the alumni tent back in 2002 for your 20^th and thought that was great! Growing up in Lafayette and playing football at UL, I was always disappointed at home games that I didn’t run into many of my teammates, there wasn’t really any place that we could call home. This is when, I and few other teammates came up with the idea of an all-football alumni club, and we call it the Gridiron Alumni Club, now over 5 years old, dedicated to supporting the football program, our passion, and its supporting cast. We hold a spring fundraising golf tournament every year in Lafayette the weekend of the UL Spring game. This is our chance to raise funds, feel a part of the program and give back. To date, we’ve donated over 30K to the football program, with equipment for the field, equipment for the training room, specialized summer training courses, etc., and we feed the entire team and coaches twice a year, once after the spring game and the other when the team reports for two-a-days. We also host two to three large tailgates for homes games as well; it’s always a family atmosphere, so bring the kids

We are now located in front of the tennis courts across from the complex under a 40 x 40 custom tent, recently donated by one of our members. Obviously you are automatically members of the GAC, and hope you let us honor you at this year’s homecoming.
