Alyson Habetz: Spotlight on Former Athlete

Click on the Spotlight on FAlyson Habetz: Spotlight on Former Athleteormer Athlete banner on the right of the AN News Box and be taken to the profile of Alyson Habetz, Associate Softball Coach at the University of Alabama and a member of the S Club Athletic Hall of Fame Induction Class in October, 2003.

Learn of her pioneer exploits as a young athlete when she played on the boys high school baseball team at Notre Dame High School of Crowley.  At UL she earned four letters in both basketball and softball team, helped lead the Lady Cajuns to their first Women’s College World Series appearance in 1993,  and was named All-American in 1994.  Alyson was an academic All-American for two years and was named the Outstanding Graduate of the College of Communications. She broke more new ground by playing professional baseball with the Silver Bullets.

A life-long friend of Tommy Lasorda, her profile contains his website address and the wonderful tribute she wrote on the occassion of his 80th birthday.  Her recent promotion by Alabama Head Coach Pat Murphy  (former UL assistant coach)  to Associate Head Softball Coach at the University of Alabama was in recognition of her outstanding efforts for the past nine years.  The press release of that promotion is also included in her profile.

The Athletic Network is honored to place the Spotlight on Former Athlete on Alyson Habetz.
