The New Orleans Privateers captured the 24th Annual Louisiana Classics on Tuesday afternoon at Oakborne CC.  UNO topped Louisiana’s Ragin’ Cajuns by just one shot.
As a team, UNO shot a one-over par score of 289 during Tuesday’s final round.  Only SMU and Colorado had a better day than both the Privateers and Cajuns, but both UNO and UL had a cushion after the first two rounds of play on Monday.
Louisiana entered Tuesday’s third and final round only two strokes behind the Privateers, but could make-up only one shot after 18 holes.
The runner-up finish was the best by the Cajuns at the Louisiana Classics since winning back-to-back titles from 1993-94.  The closest any Cajuns team had come to winning since then was a third place finish back in 1999.
UL’s Devin Carrey finished one shot behind UNO’s Adam Cornelson and Southeastern Louisiana’s Cedric Scotto for top individual honors.  Cornelson won the individual title in the fifth hole of a playoff.  Cornelson and Scotto were even after re-playing holes one, two, eight and nine, but Cornelson’s eight-foot birdie putt was good on hole 10 to win the playoff.
In addition to Carrey, Kyle Pritchard (t-15th) and Thomas Petts (t-19th) finished in the top 20.

After three players recorded a low round of 66 in the first round of the tournament, including Pritchard, just one player carded a six-under score – Colorado’s Pat Grady, during the final round.
