Track & Field: Roy Named SBC Field Performer of the Week
New Orleans, La. – Louisiana’s Chris Roy has been named the Sun Belt
Conference Field Athlete of the Week for his performance at the LSU
Alumni Gold meet last Saturday. Roy won his fourth consecutive meet
and set a career high on Saturday with a height of 5.25m. Roy has
already qualified for the NCAA Regional Meet four times over.
Roy has gone a perfect four for four this season in outdoor meets
bringing home a first place finish every time.
The other conference performers of the week were Zac Edwards (South
Alabama – Distance), Brittany Boston (FIU – Sprints), Joeane Jadotte
(FIU – Throws).
Edwards qualified for a NCAA Regional Friday in the 5,000-meter run
with a personal-record finish of 13:56.76 at the Mount SAC Relays. His
performance is the fastest in the Sun Belt Conference this season, and
also ranks third in the Mideast Regional.
At the Long Beach Invitational, senior Brittany Boston stole the show,
winning the 400M dash with a season-best time of 54.65 and also
winning the 400M Hurdles with a time of 59.94, good enough to qualify
for the NCAA Regionals.
Jadotte set a new season’s best with a regional qualifying throw of
52.76 (173-01) in the discuss at the Bryan Clay Invitational. The
throw is also the 10th best throw in the nation. She also won the Shot
Put with a regionally qualifying throw of 15.06m.
