In the opening match of the 2009 season, Louisiana’s Ragin’ Cajuns played in-state rival, McNeese State to a double overtime 1-1 draw Friday night at the Ragin’ Cajuns Track and Soccer Facility.

During the match, UL senior Courtney Hofland, became the Cajun’s all-time goal scorer after scoring late in the second half.

The Cowgirls struck first and grabbed an early 1-0 lead in the first half when Jana Barrow found the back of the net at the 15:54 mark.

Hofland was able tie the match, 1-1, after the Cajuns were awarded a penalty kick with 7:15 left in the second half to send the match into overtime. With the goal, Hofland became UL’s all-time career leader with 16 goals.

With mere seconds left at the end of the first overtime, the Ragin’ Cajuns sent two consecutive shots at McNeese’s net but both ricocheted off the post to send the game into the second overtime.
