Student-athletes at the University of Louisiana recently set aside time to help families in the Acadiana area. As one of their fall projects, the Ragin’ Cajuns Student-Athlete Advisory Committee decided to participate in the KLFY-TV 10 "Food for Families" FoodNet Food Drive.

FoodNet is a non-profit agency dedicated to providing food to low income families, people in crisis and the working poor. Their commitment is to eliminate hunger in the community and involve the public in the process.

Athletic department staff, coaches and student-athletes were challenged to donate can good items to help the cause.

A total 1,160 can good items were collected.  The student-athletes dropped off the can goods collected on Monday, Dec. 14 at the Cajundome.

As part of next year’s food drive, not only will the Ragin’ Cajuns collect can good items but they will also participate by helping unload can good items dropped off at the Cajundome.
