OBITUARY
Marvin Joseph Leonard

LAFAYETTE – Marvin Joseph Leonard, 74, a native of Houma and a resident of Lafayette, passed away Friday, March 5, 2010, at Lafayette General Medical Center. Visitation will be 8 a.m. until 10 a.m. followed by a funeral mass Thursday, March 11, 2010, at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 201 East Bayou Parkway, Lafayette, LA 70508, (337) 232-4656.

He is survived by his wife, Marilyn Myers Leonard; two sons, David Leonard and his wife, Lisa, and Brian Leonard; two daughters, Laura Leonard and her husband, Jay Ritchey, and Mary Beth Leonard; three grandchildren, Ryan LeBlanc, Jacob Ritchey, and Hendrix Leonard; two sisters, Jean Fairchild and her husband, Bobby, and Claire Brien and her husband, Daniel.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Irvin and Blanche Leonard of Houma.

He retired from the Lafayette Parish Consolidated Government, where he worked in Transportation and Employee Relations. He served his country proudly as a Special Agent in the U. S. Army Counter Intelligence Corps. He graduated from UL and was the winner of four letters in Football and Baseball and was inducted into the UL Athletic Hall of Fame. He was a devoted husband, a caring father, an adoring grandfather, a loving sibling and a loyal friend. Those who knew him would say that they are better as a result. All who knew and loved him will miss him.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions in the name of Marvin Leonard be made to St. Pius X Catholic Church, P.O. Box 80489, Lafayette, LA 70508.

The family wishes to extend a special thanks to his Oncologist, Dr. Debbie Johnson and the entire staff at Lafayette General Medical Center.

Marvin Leonard, winner of four letters in Football (53-56) and Baseball (54-57) and an 1989 inductee into the UL Athletic Hall of Fame, passed away on Friday, March 5.
