Golf: Cajuns Finish Strong At Rio Pinar

Louisiana’s Ragin’ Cajuns golf team used a 1-under score of 287 to jump into the top-10 after the final round of the Rio Pinar Invitational in Orlando, Fla. on Tuesday.

"I’m really proud of the way the guys played today," said UL head golf coach Theo Sliman. "They came together last night as team and made a goal to shoot under par as team. They came out today, played like a team and made it happen."

Philipp Fendt and Andrew Noto also posted final rounds under par to jump into the top-15.

Fendt, who started the day in a tie for 16th-place, shot a 3-under score of 69 to finish the day in a tie for 8th place. He finished the tournament with a even-par score of 216.

Noto shot a 2-under round of 70 to finish tied for 14th place with a three-round score of 219 (�3). He had started the day in 24th place.

Also for UL was Kyle Pritchard and Mark Brockhurst, who both posted rounds of 74, while Thomas Disch shot 75.

Pritchard finished the tournament with a score 225, Brockhurst shot 229 and Disch finished the event with a total of 232.

UCF won the team title with Charlotte, UNF, North Texas and Middle Tennesse rounding out the top five.

Charlotte’s Olafur Loftsson earned medalist honors with a score of 209 (-7).
