www.ragincajuns.com – Zach Osborne’s complete game, one-hit shutout of Troy has earned him his second Sun Belt Pitcher of the Week award of the 2010 season, it was announced by the league office on Monday.

The Houston native became the first SBC pitcher this season to garner repeat honors. His first season honor came after a complete game win over South Alabama on March 19 in which he recorded a career-high 13 strikeouts.

Overall, it’s the fourth honor of Osborne’s career as a Ragin’ Cajun (earned Pitcher of the Week on April 6 and April 27 last season).

Osborne fired a complete game, one-hit shutout of Troy – a team that came in hitting .326 – on Friday, April 9 in the series opener, setting the tone for the weekend sweep. It was his third complete game of the season and seventh quality start.

Osborne was the first Cajuns pitcher to toss a complete game, one-hit shutout in Sun Belt Conference play since Scott Dohmann on May 2, 1999 vs. Louisiana Tech.

The leadoff hitter reached base only twice – neither time on the benefit of a hit – on Osborne and he held the Trojans to a 0-for-9 showing with runners on base.

He faced only four hitters over the minimum and after surrendering a hit in the third inning, held the Trojans hitless over the final 6 2/3 innings of play. He struck out seven Trojans and lowered his ERA 40 points down to 2.25 in the process.

Osborne will return to the mound on Friday in Little Rock as the Ragin’ Cajuns (18-14, 7-8 Sun Belt) start a three-game series with UALR (20-14, 4-8 Sun Belt).
