Baseball: Senior players honored before gameJoshua Parrott • jparrott@theadvertiser.com • May 17, 2010 Members of the 2010 senior class for UL’s baseball University president Dr. E. Joseph Savoie gave seniors Kyle Bostick, Jon Masch and William Long their bachelor’s degrees during a pre-game ceremony on Senior Day. Bostick, Masch, Long and fellow seniors Chad Keefer, Kyle Olasin, Zach Osborne and Justin Robichaux all were presented with a framed jersey and scrapbook. Former Cajun baseball players Chance Harst and Jefferies Tatford were honored on Saturday for earning their undergraduate degrees. "Baseball is really just bridging the gap until they get their degree because that’s what they’re here for," UL coach Tony Robichaux said. "We’ve got a bunch of guys that are close (to graduating), too, and will get it in the summer and next fall." After the game, coach Robichaux and Justin Robichaux received a mosaic depicting their time together with the Cajuns. "This day is something that I’ll never forget," Justin Robichaux said. "This is why you play the game. I’m definitely going to miss being a Cajun. I thank the good Lord every day for giving me a chance to play for my father. I’ve enjoyed every second of it." Coach Robichaux credits Justin for making the father-son situation work at UL. "He came to college and had my last name on his back, and that’s not easy to deal with," he said. "He’s handled that part of it so well. It was an honor and a privilege for me to be able to do this. He and I have no regrets." Extra basesBy winning Saturday and Sunday, the Cajuns improved to 38-21 in the all-time series against WKU, including a 23-7 mark at home. UL has now taken 12 of the 17 weekend series in the matchup.
