Former Ragin’ Cajuns offensive lineman Brad Bustle has signed a free agent contract with the United Football League’s Hartford Colonials. Colonials head coach and general manager Chris Palmer inked Bustle to a contract on Friday.

Bustle, son of Cajuns head coach Rickey Bustle, was a two-time All-Sun Belt selection and was on the 2009 Lombardi Award Watch List.  He helped the 2009 Cajuns offense rank 16th in the NCAA in fewest sacks allowed, despite attempting 186 more passes than a season ago.  The Cajuns committed the fewest penalties in the Sun Belt, led the conference in red zone offense (88.6%) and converted the most third downs in the SBC.

The UFL enters its’ second season and first in Hartford.  The New York Sentinels franchise announced a move to Hartford in February and will play at Rentschler Field in East Hartford.  Rentschler Field is also where the University of Connecticut plays its’ home football games.

The UFL played its inaugural six-game season with teams in Orlando, New York, Las Vegas and San Francisco, but has expanded in 2010 to an eight-game season with five teams in Hartford, Orlando, Las Vegas, Omaha and Sacramento.

Hartford’s mini-camp will be held June 11-13 at Sage Park in Berlin, Conn., with pre-season camp expected to begin in August.
