Track & Field: Cajuns Have Good Showing in Des Moines

 

The University of Louisiana Track and Field program was well represented at the USA National Track and Field Championships this  week, hosted by Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa.

A group of one former and three current student-athletes competed in the event.

The Ragin’ Cajuns contingent shined in the triple jump as former All-American Lawrence Willis placed third in the men’s triple jump and UL freshman jumper O’Daylon Thibeaux placed third in the junior men’s triple jump on Friday, June 25.

Willis turned in a leap of 16.69m/54-09.25 (�3.4). Thibeaux’s best distance was 15.58m/51-01.50 (�2.7).

On Thursday, June 24 a pair of Ragin’ Cajuns throwers participated in the junior men’s shot put. Albert Fournette finished in the Top 10 with a top throw of 17.23m/56-06.50 which placed him 10th. Teammate Myles Melancon was right behind Fournette in 11th place with a throw of 17.13m/56-02.50.
