The University of Louisiana Athletics Department wrapped up the 2009-10 athletic season ranked among the top half of 348 Division I schools in the 2009-10 Learfield Sports Directors’ Cup.
The Ragin’ Cajuns placed 144th with 104.5 total points. UL was one of 147 schools (out of 348) to amass 100-plus points.
Louisiana recorded points for NCAA postseason appearances in baseball (25), softball (64) and men’s track and field (15.5).
UL ranked fourth in the Sun Belt Conference (out of 13 schools) with only Denver (No. 65), Middle Tennessee (No. 79) and FIU (No. 128) finishing higher than the Cajuns.
In the State of Louisiana ranks the Cajuns were third behind only LSU (No. 19) and Tulane (No. 142).
The Learfield Sports Directors’ Cup was developed as a joint effort between NACDA and USA Today. Points are awarded based on each institution’s finish in up to 20 sports — 10 women’s and 10 men’s. Complete standings and the scoring structure can be found on NACDA’s Web site at www.directorscup.org.
