Football: Ortego Named to Burlsworth Trophy List

The inaugural Burlsworth Trophy nominee list has been released and its includes Cajuns senior punter Spencer Ortego.

The Burlsworth Trophy will be given to a collegiate football player who began his career as a walk-on and has shown outstanding performance on the field. 

Participants must have begun their first season of participation with a FBS football program without financial aid of any kind from their athletic department.

The national honor marks the second time this month that Ortego has been recognized.  He was also named a candidate for the Ray Guy Award earlier this month.

Ortego is the second Cajun this week to grab national recognition as Ladarius Green was named a semifinalist for the John Mackey Award on Monday.
