Jasmine Anderson collected her second Sun Belt Conference Women’s Track Athlete of the Week Award on Tuesday. Anderson matched her season best and school record mark in the 60 meter hurdles last weekend at the Houston Indoor Invitational with a time of 8.38 seconds, a time which currently ranks 24th nationally.

Louisiana’s Jasmine Anderson matched her season best and school record mark in the 60 meter hurdles last weekend at the Houston Indoor Invitational and was rewarded with her second Sun Belt Conference Women’s Indoor Track Athlete of the Week honor of the season on Tuesday.

Last Saturday Anderson finished the 60 meter hurdles in 8.38 seconds, a time which currently ranks 24th nationally and was established as her season best and school indoor record on Jan. 15  at the Texas A&M Conference Challenge.

She posted the fastest time of all collegiate competitors in the event at the UH meet, in both the prelims and finals. This was her second Top 5 finish in the 60 meter hurdles this season.

Anderson also claimed a Top 10 finish in the 60 meter dash with a time of 7.69 seconds in the finals. Her time of 7.66 seconds in the prelims established a new school indoor record and marked her college best.

The Hammond native was named SBC Women’s Track Athlete of the Week on Jan. 18 following the record-setting performance at Texas A&M.

The Ragin’ Cajuns men’s and women’s track and field teams are back in action on Friday, Feb. 4 in the Jeff Davis Bank Cowboy Invite II hosted by McNeese State. The meet will be held at the McNeese State Indoor Recreation Complex which is located on the main campus off Common Street.
