Louisiana’s Ragin’ Cajuns women’s tennis team will honor its two seniors, Mia Gordon and Julie Mazinova, on Saturday as the Cajuns play their final home match on the 2010-11 season.
The Cajuns (9-5) will face Lamar (11-2) at 1 p.m. CT. Admission is free to the public. Gordon and Mazinova will be playing the last matches of their collegiate career at the Cajuns Courts against a solid Cardinal squad. Gordon is currently is 8-5 in dual matches this season and 12-7 overall, playing primarily from the no. 6 position. Over her four year career she has amassed a record of 41-46 in singles play. The Toronto native has a chance on Saturday to inch closer to her best season which came in 2007-08 when she won 14 matches. A strong doubles player, Gordon has a career mark of 47-30, including a 20-win season in 2007-08. This season she is 6-6 in doubles action and currently on a two-match win streak with teammate Milou Israel. Mazinova currently leads the Cajuns with a 20-6 record this season, including an 11-3 mark in dual matches. It marks the second straight 20-win season for the Pilsen, Czech Republic native that went 22-8 last season. She currently holds a career singles record of 69-38 and has won her last five singles matches. In doubles play, Mazinova has a 54-34 career record and is currently 14-7 this year with four wins in her last five outings. ![]()
