Ragin’ Cajuns head men’s basketball coach Bob Marlin was recently featured in an ESPN.com Insider article. Jay Bilas praised Marlin as one of the nation’s most underappreciated Division I basketball coaches.

Bilas talks of how Marlin and other coaches, like Xavier’s Chris Mack, Cincinnati’s Mick Cronin, Maryland’s Mark Turgeon and Georgia’s Mark Fox "don’t get the publicity they deserve, but they can teach and coach the game" and "are undervalued and underrated." He also says Marlin is one of those coaches that "are just one March run away from making their mark."

Here’s what Bilas had to personally say of the Cajuns’ head coach:

"A Mississippi native, Marlin is a quiet, no-nonsense man and coach, and he is one of the best-kept secrets in the college game. I watched Marlin prepare his Sam Houston State team for the NCAA tournament in 2010, and he coached a great game against a superior Baylor team and gave his players a chance to win. Marlin is technically sound but also strong-minded. He can coach with anyone in the game."

Jay Bilas provides expert color commentary from courtside on college basketball games and serves as a studio analyst and as the co-host of ESPN’s popular studio shows "College GameDay" and "College Gamenight." He also writes for ESPN.com and contributes numerous reports for "SportsCenter." Since 2003, Bilas has provided in-depth player scouting and analysis for ESPN’s coverage of the NBA draft.
