Advertiser staff fares well in LSWA contestAdvertiser staff fares well in LSWA contest Advertiser staff fares well in LSWA contest Daily Advertiser, June 27, 2011 NATCHITOCHES — The Lafayette Daily Advertiser took home four first-place awards, including the overall Newspaper Sweepstakes winner for Class II during the annual Louisiana Sports Writers Association awards banquet. As a staff, the Advertiser claimed 16 total awards. Sports editor Kevin Foote finished third for the Individual Sweepstakes after taking home one first, two seconds and one third in the contest. Foote’s first place award was for Prep Features, while his two second-place awards were for Pro Column and Pro Feature. Assistant sports editor Brady Aymond took home two first place awards and two third-place awards in the contest and finished tied for fifth in the Individual Sweepstakes. Aymond’s two first-place awards were for Prep Event and Pro Feature. His two thirds were for Pro Event and Pro Column. Former UL beat writer and current K-12 education reporter Joshua Parrott nabbed a total of three awards at the banquet, including a second for College Event and a second for College Column. Local golf columnist Dan McDonald grabbed two second-place finishes for stories that appeared in The Advertiser. The sports staff also placed second in Best Special Section and third in Best Section. LSU beat writer Glenn Guilbeau also fared well in the contest, taking second in Pro Column and third in College Column.
