This is the third straight week a Cajuns player received weekly SBC honors.
Kelley helped UL defeat Florida Atlantic with eight tackles, a tackle-for-loss and an interception. His tackle-for loss came with FAU facing a third-and-three at the Cajuns seven-yard line and forced the Owls to settle for a field goal in the first quarter. His interception came with the Cajuns holding a slim 21-20 third quarter lead.
Baer turned in an epic performance for the second straight week, scoring 13 points in the Cajuns 37-34 victory over the Owls which improved the squad to 4-1 for the first time since 1988.
He connected on field goals of 47 yards and 46 yards, before hitting the game-winning 26-yard field goal as time expired. It marked the first win for the Cajuns in the final 10 seconds of regulation since 2003.
Baer also added four punts for 160 yards, an average of 40.0 per punt. He currently leads the Sun Belt Conference in scoring.
In addition to the Sun Belt honors, the Cajuns also received a pair of accolades from the Louisiana Sports Writers Association.
Blaine Gautier was named LSWA Offensive Player of the Week and Baer received LSWA special team honors.
Gautier piled up 360 yards of offense (329 pass/31 rush) with two passing touchdowns in the win over FAU.
He did not throw an interception for the fourth straight week and was at his best when it mattered most. With the game tied at 34-34, UL took command at their 26-yard line with no timeouts and 1:48 remaining in the game. Gautier proceeded to complete six-of-seven passes for 65 yards, moving the Cajuns to the FAU nine-yard line with three seconds remaining.
