LAFAYETTE – The University of Louisiana Athletics Department announced Friday a group of 49 current and former student-athletes, combined, who will be receiving their bachelor’s degrees on Saturday, May 12 during University of Louisiana Spring 2012 commencement ceremonies.
The 49 graduates will obtain degrees in diverse programs including civil engineering, biology, psychology, nursing, speech pathology, finance, elementary and second education, health information management and sports management.
Adding in the Spring 2012 group, a total of 75 student-athletes will have graduated in the current academic year, as 26 graduated in December 2011.
The Spring 2012 Commencement Day Celebration begins at 8 a.m., with individual academic college ceremonies for the College of General Studies (Cajundome), Ray P. Authement College of Sciences (Cajundome Convention Center Festival Ballroom), College of Nursing (Cajundome Convention Center Exhibit Hall B) and College of the Arts (Angelle Hall).
All graduates will gather for the general assembly at 11 a.m. in the Cajundome main arena. Retired Lt. General Russel Honoré, the former commander of Joint Task Force Katrina and global preparedness expert, will be the keynote speaker.
The remaining academic college ceremonies follow the general assembly and will begin at either 1:30 p.m. or 4 p.m., in the Cajundome main arena, convention center exhibit hall B and convention center festival ballroom.
