Golf: 3 UL men’s golfers named All-LouisianaDaily Advertiser, June 22, 2012 LAFAYETTE — Three UL golfers were recently selected to the All-Louisiana collegiate golf team as announced by the Louisiana Sports Writers Association earlier this month. “I think that is a huge accomplishment by this team,” head coach Theo Sliman said. “This is the first time under my watch that we have had three guys on the All-Louisiana list. That just goes to show how much depth and talent we had on the team this year.” Senior Philipp Fendt was selected to the All-Louisiana first team for the third straight season after posting a team best 72.92 average and was named to the Sun Belt All-Conference team for the third straight year. Fellow senior Andrew Noto also made yet another appearance on the All-Louisiana team earning honorable mention honors after being named to the Sun Belt All-Conference team for the second time is his career. Noto had a 73.33 stroke average in his senior year for his third straight All-Louisiana selection. “It’s quite fitting for Andrew and Philipp to receive the honor having been named to the All-Louisiana team,” Sliman added. “Both of them have been named to the list before and have consistently played exceptional golf over the last several years.” Junior transfer Brandt Garon took the newcomer of the year title after posting a 74.09 stroke average and was named to the Sun Belt All-Conference team in his first season with the squad. “It was good to see Brandt honored as the newcomer of the year,” Sliman noted. “I think that will do a lot to increase his confidence going into next year. Brandt was already playing at a very high level when we closed out the season this spring.”
