BATON ROUGE – UL wide receiver Harry Peoples was named the Louisiana Sports Writers Association’s Offensive Player of the Week for his performance against FIU on Saturday.

The senior caught 10 passes for 151 yards and a touchdown in UL’s 48-20 win over the Panthers, who were the preseason favorite in the Sun Belt Conference.

With the Ragin’ Cajuns leading 31-14 at half, Peoples caught a pass from Terrance Broadway, broke free down the sidelines and turned it into a 78-yard touchdown, the longest catch of his career. The game was his third career 100-yard game and his third game of 10 or more catches.

Louisiana Tech linebacker Chip Hester returned an interception for the touchdown in a win over Virginia to earn defensive honors; and, Southeastern’s Robert Alford returned a punt for a score in a 31-21 win over Lamar that helped him receive special team honors.
