Updates:

Pat has been put in contact with Dr. Harold Aymond, Professor Emeritus at McNeese State University and a friend of Dr. Ed Dugas since childhood when they grew up in Evergreen, La. Dr. Aymond had a heart transplant slightly over 10 years ago and he and Pat are sharing emails.

Pat in a Dec. 1, 2012 email to Ed Dugas and Harold Aymond –
Hi Dr Harold I hope you are in good spirit! In communicating with Mr Ed Dugas he informed me about your heart transplant condition. I am a 1A on the transplant list at Oshner in N.O. I just went through a full check-up an is medically ready for a transplant. I am 6’4 which makes it difficult to match me to a donor. Because of this, the transplant team discussed with me about having the ALVAT longer or going with a high risk heart. They did a good job explaining what high risk meant which is around 5% greater than a more scrutinized heart. I could use some feed back on anything you know and feel about HRH’s. We are hoping to have a donor by April, before a decision is made. I also struggle with someone has to die for me to live!
Thank You and God bless
Pat Boudreaux

Pat in a Dec. 1, 2012 email to Ed Dugas –

Hi Dr Dugas and Geaux Cajuns! Thank you for checking up on my status. As for as may condition all is well as I explained in my last e-mail to Dr Harold and you. I cannot  tell you enough how putting out my letter helped me! It give me some peace of mind to be ready when the times come for the transplant. I still have a lot to do, but the spirit of people and friends are giving me the power to make it through this. Once again I would like to thank all the people who follow the network.
Thank you
Pat Boudreaux

Peace, Ed Dugas
