Football: Lawson waived – has torn Achilles tendon and will undergo surgeryTim Buckley, The Advertiser, May 23, 2013 Ex-UL receiver Javone Lawson has been waived by the Arizona Cardinals, who recently signed him as an undrafted free agent. Lawson was waived after saying by text message earlier this week that he had torn an Achilles tendon and would undergo surgery to repair the injury. Lawson is one of several undrafted Ragin’ Cajuns who played on back-to-back 9-4 teams that won back-to-back New Orleans Bowls in 2011 and 2012 and who took part in NFL minicamps earlier this month. The others: cornerback Melvin White and offensive tackle Jaron Odom (Carolina), kicker Brett Baer (St. Louis), defensive end Emeka Onyenekwu (Miami), defensive tackle Cordian Hagans (Pittsburgh), receiver Harry Peoples (Chicago) and defensive back Jemarlous Moten (Baltimore). White, Baer, Onyenekwu and Hagans all also were signed as undrafted free agents; Odom, Peoples and Moten were tryout invitees.
