Rolland was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 57 years, Joyce Boudreaux Broussard; his parents, Fred and Evelyn Hebert Broussard; his in-laws, Henry and Josie Venable Boudreaux; and his brother-in-law, Don Boudreaux.

Rolland L. Broussard, known affectionately as “GP” to his friends and family, was born on October 23, 1936, in the same town he would eventually leave his legacy. Rolland was a pillar of his community, revered for his intelligence, faith, and gentle nature.

A proud graduate of Milton High School, Rolland’s thirst for knowledge and dedication to education led him to further his studies at the University of Southwestern Louisiana (USL), where he earned both his Bachelor of Science and Masters in Education. He went on to receive his Doctorate from Auburn University, a testament to his commitment to academic excellence.

Rolland’s professional life was a reflection of his love for education. He began his career as an educator, touching the lives of countless students as a teacher and administrator. His journey in education culminated in his role as a College Professor in the USL Department of Education.

After his retirement, he and his wife Joyce, along with close friends, embarked on numerous travel adventures, enjoying the world and creating memories that would last a lifetime. Rolland was also a car enthusiast, his eyes lighting up at the sight of both classic models and the sleek lines of new cars.

As an avid reader, Rolland read an abundance of books he would check out from the local library. Sundays held a special place in his heart; nothing made him happier than spending the afternoon surrounded by his loved ones, enjoying a good meal, and watching a football game on television. These moments were the simple pleasures that he cherished deeply.

Embracing the modern world, Rolland was no stranger to technology. He held a special place in his heart for Amazon, marveling at the convenience it brought into his life, allowing him to indulge in his love for books and gadgets with just a click of a button.

As we bid farewell to Rolland L. Broussard, “GP,” we celebrate a life well-lived, a life filled with purpose, passion, and love. His memory will be cherished and his contributions to education and his community will be remembered for generations to come. Rolland’s journey on earth may have come to a peaceful end, but his story will be told with admiration and his example followed with respect.

Pallbearers will be Daniel Viator, Don LeBlanc, Trevor LeBlanc, Jordan Picard, Thomas Picard, and Ryder Meaux.

Special thanks to the staff of Hospice of Acadiana, the staff from Right at Home, and Food With Love. Also, a heartfelt appreciation to his longtime caregiver, Howard Jones for his devoted support and friendship.
