LAFAYETTE, La. – Ragin’ Cajuns men’s tennis junior Damian Farinola became the first Louisiana player to earn a world ranking this summer after his strong showing in the doubles main draw at the Turkey F25 Futures in June.

“This is exactly what we have been looking for this summer for someone to step up and achieve a world ranking,” head coach Mark Jeffrey said. “We couldn’t be more thrilled for Damian. Hopefully the rest of the guys can follow suite this summer.”

Farinola is currently ranked 1484 in the ATP World Tour Doubles Rankings. The Adelaide, South Australia native reached the semifinals of the doubles draw at the Turkey F25 Futures knocking off the second seeded team of Temur Ismailov and Sergey Shipilov from Uzbekistan in the quarterfinals, 7-5, 4-6, (10-7).

Paired with David Porter of Great Britain, Farinola gutted out a 1-6, 7-5, (13-11) decision against Remi Boutillier and Jean-Pascal Vernet of France in the opening round.

Farinola and Porter were bounced from the event in the semifinals by Baris Erguden and Barkin Yalcinkale of Turkey, 7-6 (6), 6-1
